Fundraising & Marketing Officer, Pippa Lock, kindly visited Rickards today to talk about the ways the team can support and work with Child Bereavement UK (CBUK) to raise funds and volunteer. CBUK’s vision is for all families to have the support they need to rebuild their lives, when a child grieves or when a child dies. CBUK is needed because:
- 1 in 29 schoolchildren has been bereaved of a parent or sibling – that’s a child in every class at school
- Every day 6 children and young people aged 1-19 die as a result of illness or accident, and 17 babies die at or around the time of birth
- Every year over 20,000 children under the age of 18 experience the death of a parent – that’s around 60 children every day
- Young people involved in the criminal justice system are 3-4 times more likely to have experienced the death of a parent
